Yes, definitely CHEW throughly. You might go easy on spices for awhile it's funny what can come out the "other end". I had a partial blockage from a mushroom, of all things, so now I chew or cut things up. Also watch for seeds with pointed ends. Cheese had been fine for me, hope you can enjoy eating out-if you try a new food keep track of how your system reacts, see if it agrees with you.------

The only two foods that my surgeon advised me to stay away from were mushrooms and sweetcorn.
A few weeks ago I had some mushrooms as part of an
open steak sandwich, thinking it would be okay. And... it wasn't. I've had full obstructions with Crohn's and they're excruciating. This wasn't like that, but it did resemble a mild partial obstruction.
I won't eat mushrooms then. Or sweetcorn (but baby corn seems to be fine). Eat literally everything else and don't chew any more thoroughly than I did pre-ostomy.
