Hello all,

Just to let you know that my referral letter arrived through the post the other day to see this Professor in Oxford, UK on 10th September re whether or not I can have a J-Pouch or not. Fingers crossed.

I have indeed.... I'm a little nervous now though as my Wife is a nurse at the hospital I had all my emergency operations and spent a year of my life fighting the grim reaper and she's been speaking to the numerous doctors who had dealings with me during my fight who have all told her that they think i'm mad if I go for the J-Pouch now and I really need to wait another year to make sure my body is ready.
I don't want to wait another year but I don't wanna risk not being ready and not being able to support my Wife and Little boy!!

How long has it been since that struggle? I personally think it's smart to wait for the jpouch creation. You want that to go WELL.

My struggle was not as long as yours, but I just got out of the hospital after 9 weeks. My stoma went necrotic, 1 operation to make new stoma and they were going to send me home, then I got really sick. On the third emergency operation part of my small intestine disintegrated in the surgeon's hand. I too got a second stoma. I'm scared of the thought of the jpouch not working since other stuff went wrong. I would personally want to be as healthy as possible.

Maybe you can get two surgeon's opinions?

It's been 15 months since it all kicked off but I was in hospital for 9 months after all the complications and slipping to 6 stone. I've been referred to the top dog in the uk so I'll wait to see what his thoughts are and take it from there
