A bidet will definitely help you. Mine is worth its weight in gold and I'd seriously attempt to fight anyone who tried to take it from me!
One huge thing I remember from the early days was being truly frightened at the amount of time I was spending in the toilet. I was really high output for the first 48 hours and it was scary. It felt like UC again and I cried and cried thinking I'd made a huge mistake. Within a couple of months, things were much better. Today I am so happy that I would absolutely do it again.
Best of luck to you.
I'm curious as to how my colon is going to work once reconnected in regards to function with 15 inches missing. I have no left side of my colon anymore, just a small portion of my sigmoid and all of my rectum. I'm passing lots of mucus so I'm getting practice using the muscles holding that in. I imagine they are going to initially take it easy with food after the surgery...I will say I'm nervous about
that first real bowel movement.
