Hello, information appreciated from anyone who can help. I had the second stage of my three surgeries 4 weeks ago. Not doing so well. How many ounces of output should be the daily amount from the ileostomy? I'm having 99% diarrhea, some blood from my stoma and behind, etc. Main question, how many ounces a day is normal output? Thanks!

1,000 ML (or about 34 ounces) is the maximum amount you should have. Otherwise you are getting dehydrated.

Think about adding Imodium to slow down your output and thicken it.

Thank you! I'm taking imodium, eating thickening foods and at about 28 ounces right now, pure liquid. It burns! Can't gain any weight, although I'm sure that will change soon enough. Thanks for the response. Reversal March 24! Can't get here fast enough.

My experience was pretty much the same. If you're having a lot of skin trouble I'd recommend working with a WOCN and/or adding Lomotil in addition to the Imodium. You can take up to 8 tablets of each every day.

I had a lot of issues .... about 40 oz. a day after the second surgery. It was so bad, even with Lomotil, that I had to have a PIC put in so I could do daily IVs at home. Don't hesitate to call for help on this - I felt a lot better after they got me the hydration I needed!
