Anyone have crohns and have inflammation with some blood in their output? I and my doctors have been trying to track down why my output smells so bad. I am talking it smells up the bathroom for like 2 hours. They thought it was a bacterial infection so they had me on all kinds of different antibiotics for a few months. Didn't help. Can someone tell me if they had experience with a really bad smell when they bled? I am kind of desperate now. I can't even really go to friends houses for fear of needing to use the bathroom.

blood in your output isn't normal. What does the doc say about that?

also have you tried M9 drops by hollister. They work like a champ for output stench. Only problem is you have to put it in after you empty. So if you are out and about and empty... if you are not carrying it wiht you... then wait until you are at home to empty again.
Also.. I find that I have to use a lot more than a drop. I use a gigantic squirt of the blue stuff!

My crohns has been flaring. I just got an ileoscopy with my new doctor and it showed I have some ulcers and a stricture. I have a consultation for a revision sometime this week.
Unfortunately I have tried just about all of the deodorizes I can think of and I even take devrom. All the deodorizes do is add another smell to the smell. It's really bad. I've had people make comments to me when I walk out of a bathroom.

Have you been tested for C-diff? You can get C- diff even if you have no colon. It leaves you with an awful smell in your output and it really needs to be taken seriously because it can be fatal. BTW, don't let anyone tell you that you can't get it without a colon, I had it 3 times already and I do not have a colon. Good luck!

just thinking out loud...

when you empty does it float? If you are flaring right now you may not be digesting fat or something similar?

Any pancreatic/gallbladder issues?

Could any meds you were taking create a false negative with the c-diff test? Will you doc do another?

Equestrian Mom- When I empty it does not float. Not sure about the pancreatic/gallbladder issues?
I was on some antibiotics when I had the C-diff test, but all they told me was that it was negative. I'm hoping it resolves itself when I have my revision because this is very frustrating.


Edit-Some of it does float. I would say half floats and half sinks.

Just so you know you are not alone...DH's output from two abdominal fistulas would drop a horse at 20 yards. It's awful. He uses a deodorant in the bag...M9 drops...I don't see where it helps much. He uses spray air neutralizers and turns the exhaust fan on in bathroom. I really wish we had a bathroom he could have to himself, it is that bad.

I don't think there should be blood in your output...glad you are seeing a doc about that issue.

I take devrom, but other family members use poopouri. And if I ever have my doubts about the smell of my output, I will spray the water really well with the poopouri, then turn around backwards on the toilet and empty directly into the water quickly and flush. Then spray the water again and then clean the tail.

This helps and I've found poopouri is the best deodorizer I've ever used. This is to be used directly on the water and forms an oil over the water that your stinky poo goes under, but I've also sprayed the air when something smells bad and its awesome.

M9 drops don't help me and neither does hydrogen peroxide, I have no idea why.
