So I've had my end ilesotomy since August of 2013 (about 6 months ago). I'm 21 years old and happily back at college for my final 2 semesters (had to take one off when I got sick in June 2013).
I still have the "stump" of my colon and my rectum inside of me. My doctor said that I was better off waiting a few years before having them removed too, because I still had considerable inflammation back in August.
Since the surgery I have always had some mucus/blood discharge out of my anus, varying in amount of frequency. Never anything too serious, and I was told by my doctor that it was normal and to be expected. But over the past 4 or 5 days the frequency of the discharge has increased to 4-6 times a day, with more and more blood. The urgency has gotten worse as well, and I have been forced to rush to the toilet sometimes barely making it in time. Worse yet my butt is starting to get soar/raw from the frequent discharge.
So now I am scared that there might be something seriously wrong with the rectum/stump that is still inside of me. Or maybe this is just a weird phase for a few days and the discharge will return to "normal" soon? Also as a side note I have notice a slight increase in fatigue over the past few days, which I'm thinking may be because of loosing blood in the discharge. I'm waiting on a call back from my GI doctor tomorrow morning and trying not to freak out too much.
Any and all advice/thoughts are welcome!
