Hello all,
I was introduced to this site by Amira. I have been in touch with Emma as well. My name is Kelly, I am 40 and live in Iowa. After 15 + years of suffering I finally found a doctor to listen and agreed to do the surgery. On June 27 I had all but 12" of my large intestine removed. In additional to the constipation, my rectum is very tight making it difficult to pass stool at times. I am a few weeks ahead of the others in recovery.
Those first days and weeks were horrific. The pain and not knowing what to expect, what to eat, what to do. I not given any instructions except "try it". That is scary because you don't know what the outcome will be. I had MANY complications. I don't believe that this surgery is done and someone does not have them. My concern now is I feel I am getting backed up in to my small intestine and that is a KILLER.
I still have dull pain in my pelvis area, I can not sleep on my right side, just hurts as well as my ribs. I finally "learned" to fart again and that is nice. I just push on my belly. My stomach still protrudes out right below my belly button and is very sore to the touch. If I walk to hard, or make a sudden move, my insides hurt. Even bumps in the car are bad.
I would like to become part of your circle if you would let me. I have no one here to talk with. There was one lady I spoke with here before the surgery, she had it done 2 1/2 years ago. I tried to contact her after and she will not return my call.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kelly
