stoma powder?

So I changed everything this AM, & noticed an area of weird looking skin right next to my stomaq- it sort of curves around it a bit, very tiny, maybe 10mm's tops??? It's not red or raw, but it's sort of grayish-pink & mushy feeling- a bit damp. It doesn't hurt. There was no leakage pattern on the old wafer, & I had no signs of a leak, but maybe some output oozed just under the wafer at nighttime or something. So I thought stoma powder would be good for this, just to absorb any moisture & dry it out. I didn't do anything with it today, just slapped on a new wafer & made sure it was covered up good. I'll keep an eye on it. Do you guys think stoma powder would be helpful here? I don't even have any on hand, but will call edgepark to see if I can order a bottle. Not sure if my insurance has a cap on how many orders in a certain time frame, etc.

I sounds like stoma powder would be great to try for this skin issue. Just remember to dab skin prep (such as 3M Cavillon or Smith and Nephew) over the powder once you place it on your skin to create a "crust". A wafer won't stick to powder without this step.

     I don't put anything over the stoma powder and my wafer sticks just fine.

 

Actually, when I changed my whole set-up yesterday, the skin was fine- that mushy area had cleared up. I have some benzoin tincture, but haven't had to use it- I'm getting 5 days wear time as is, with no skin issues. All I use is the barrier spray. I'm glad to have a stash of emergency supplies though!
