Do your bags have filters? I get those stickers too, & I think you're supposed to stick one over the filter when you shower, swim, etc. Which I've never done... The stickers don't seem to match up with the filter shape. And anyway, I haven't noticed water getting into my pouch, so.... just my best guess!

Hi, thanks for you reply. I can't see anything that resembles a filter I have a little white Velcro dot at the bottom of the bag at the front and one further up in the middle that sticks together if you want to tuck bag up but can't find a filter. If anyone uses a Coloplast Sensura one piece drainable bag do they have filters if so where is it?
I probably won't use the stickers as everything seems ok as it is and as the saying goes 'If ain't broke why fix it' lol x

The filter is quite large on the coloplast sensura bag. It is across the top. I think all you can see is a small rectangle on the front. The stickers are for when you bathe or swim. Apparently showering is ok. I swim quite a bit and have done both, used and not used them and so far it hasn't made any difference.

Eva Lou et al- some if you actually use filtered bags? Do these things do anything at all for ostomates? I thought they are pretty much useless because they clog up instantly, and are only of use for colostomates whi basically have solid stool. Live and learn though.

All the opaque drainable bags that matched my wafer came with a filter... I didn't pick it and I'm pretty sure it never provided any usefulness, but it was there nonetheless

I only noticed that it helped with the aftermarket filters that you put on the bag and poke 1 or 2 holes in the bag with a needle. The stickers never helped on the regular filters on the bags.
I tried the aftermarket filters because my bag was blowing up like a balloon.

I have been using bags with filters- that's what they started me with in the hospital, & they worked well, so I stuck with them. I don't know if they do anything, but I've never had the bag full of gas that I was so concerned about
- even in the AM's, very little ballooning, just a full bag. And I drink with straws, I smoke, all the things that are supposed to increase gas! The filters don't get clogged, because they are all above the
opening, so anything drops down into the bag, not up above the
opening. I don't notice any odor either. So I guess they do seem to work ok!

I love pouches with filters...I just put a small piece of Sure Seal over the filter and it works as it is supposed to and I've never had a leak (sure seals are breathable and waterproof).
Gravity needs to do it's part for filters to work...so when you lay down/sleep it doesn't work as well but will go right back to doing it's thing once you empty.

The pouch that I like best only comes with a filter, so I often AM wearing a pouch with a filter. That said, the filters have never worked for me one bit. A lot of folks say they work for a day or so, and then stop working when they get moist, but I don't even get that much from the filters. I wake up every single night with a pouch so full of gas I could beat it like a drum...and it builds up pressure to the point that I have leaks because of it.
I have been sampling an oversized pouch from Convatec, and it has a totally different type of filter than the normal size pouches they offer. The filter on the big bags seems to work fairly well, even after wearing the bag for a few nights. If it weren't so huge I would just use that pouch all the time! I wish all their bags had that same filter....oh well.
