Blueglass - hope you are doing well!

I was looking for your posts, but haven't been on in a while so could not find one....

You had mentioned you use hydrogen peroxide as a deoderizer/septic/cleaner/etc. for the pouch every empty.

What do you use to measure the amount? What do you use to pour or squirt into pouch?

I'm using a product that works good, it's just a little expensive. The Hydrogen peroxide would be great since the price is so cheap.

Also, have you noticed any issues with the hydrogen peroxide and the wafer material?

Sorry, been crazy busy w/work and not around here much.... how are you doing, Jimmy? I'm doing well in general, just a busy time of the year.

Larasmom is right, it's something like a capful. I pour it into a squeeze bottle and just squeeze some in. Learned about it here. I've been using it for three years, no problems at all. I don't think it really gets up to the wafer much anyways, as gravity pulls it away most of the time (perhaps at night some.... but it's not that much and it gets mixed in w/the stool.

Ymotso - ty for the information....just not sure about using mouthwash in the pouch, lol! (I would hate to get the bottles mixed up!)

TY for the information - when you say 'squeeze bottle' what kind do you have? From which store may I obtain it?

The hydrogen peroxide seems like a much cheaper alternative ty again!

I think they gave me the squeeze bottle in the hospital, not sure what it is exactly, nothing special, probably could get one at a walgreens type store; I think it's about 8 oz. I also use old M9 bottles that I had from before I started using the hydrogen peroxide. I can just be messy, especially in the middle of the night, and I buy the big bottles of hydrogen peroxide, which can be hard to handle.

Thanks Jimmy..... I don't ever forget that it's the ostomy that is letting me participate.... and it is good to be able to participate (although regular life has different sorts of stresses....)

Hey Bluegrass, thanks for the tip re hydrogen peroxide. I have been using "SG3" which is fantastic stuff but a 240ml bottle is $20.00 and I use one a week so I will try the hydrogen Peroxide. I had tried the mouthwash tip one time but it burned my stoma so never used it again.
