Okay, so I have step 2 scheduled for July 16th and the final reversal is scheduled for August 29th. Here's my dilemma. I'm in the process of signing up for classes in the fall and am worried that I won't have enough control to be able to go to class, especially so soon after surgery. Is this a valid concern?
I'll be 28 in August and had my step 1 this past January so my muscles back there haven't been out of use for that long. How long did it take for you to feel comfortable leaving the house? Thanks!!
No way, I would withdraw from fall semester and not return until the spring. It looks like you only have six weeks planned between steps 2 and 3 -- if you have complications or the pouch isn't fully healed by August 29th your reversal could easily be delayed. I'd be less concerned about
having control for class and more concerned about
being discharged from the hospital in time for classes!
For what it's worth, I had my reversal on July 31 last year and I decided to withdraw from fall classes. It turned out that I was fine by mid-August and I could have gone, but I didn't want to run the risk of being uncomfortable in class or performing poorly because of fatigue, adjustment, etc.
Is there any way that you can have Step 2 earlier in the summer and aim to do the reversal earlier as well?
