Thanks for all the tips! I did order some of the benzoin tincture (the geritrex stuff). I tried a little on my arm and it's pretty sticky to say the least. By the time I got it the skin was already pretty well cleared up. I usually get a pretty solid seal now. I think time and food were the best things for me. Since my low point after surgery I've gained about 20 pounds in less than 3 months.
I might try out the benzoin if I continue exercising. I've been trying to run some which causes me to sweat quite a bit and I wonder how well the bag will hold on. So far, it hasn't been an issue. But, if I start to wonder I may give it a try to see if it feels a little more solid.
Haha embers! I'll keep that in mind. Strangely I'm a little more conscious about the stoma now that I'm out of this whole life crisis mode. I was really open about it at first, but now I don't really talk about it too much. It just became part of life, I guess. I can't wait to finish out my surgeries though. I want them done in the worst way. Time to move on. This **** UC took enough of my good years already. Sadly in order to not worry about job security I have to wait until March for round 2 and the middle of summer will be marred by surgery again :(. On a positive note I can't wait to be fully functional and active again. How I could stand the last 10 years is beyond me some days.
