using Crown Royal Bag as cover for ostomy bag

Just so new people with ostomy pouch's know, a good temporary cover is a bag with a drawstring like the old purple Crown Royal whiskey bags. While I'm waiting for an actual bag cover I ordered to come in, I am using one of these which I tie to each side of my flange. That way if my pouch goes lower than my shirt at all, all that can be seen is purple cloth. It also reduces the risk of the clip getting caught on something and opening, which has already happened twice to me when working and lifting stuff...

I experienced that problem a few times in the beginning as well and it was not a funny sight. I learned quickly there are pouches by all manufacturers that have a cover right on every pouch front and back for comfort wear, less noise, & that is beige in color making it less noticeable. They use Velcro type closers that are much more secure than the old clips. On the one I use, the tail folds over three times then a smooth flap with Velcro comes down over the end so nothing can get caught on it. Good luck!

I can greatly relate to that! After my surgery, I find it very hard to adjust to everything. I tried to do some research and learn from other people's experiences, until I have learned to live stoma without considering it as a burden. Keeping my stoma from the public view specially with the nature of my work was really hard. Now, I've been using boxer with pockets where I put my stoma bag and keep it in place. It's really a big help!
