When do you start eating meat?
I am new to this chat so not sure how it works. I did post some questions I had in a different e-mail or thread, so will check for answers there - 0.0% - 0 votes

I had rectal removal in August 2014. Three months returned for take down but I needed more healing. Came back in January for take down. I had that surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have lots of questions, but for now I'd like to about the daily routine, if there is one, do most of you go to the toilet 8 to 10 times over the course of a day or do you have a time during the day, you may sit there for an hour while eliminating? The other, once the "episode begins, does it last off and on anywhere from an hour to 2 or 3 hours?
Also, when did you begin eating solids?
If there is anyone out that could share & answer these questions,
I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I had my takedown on Friday 1/23. I started eating solids including meat on Sunday, 1/25 (chicken). My surgeon said once on solids I had no food restrictions but after reading a lot on this forum I've taken it slowly. I've had no problem so far...eggs, cereal, bread, meat, potatoes, pasta, etc. I have not tried salad yet.

I was released from hospital Monday the 26th and left my house a few days later for a quick trip to grocery store and pharmacy. I actually went to a Super Bowl party on Sunday the 1st of Feb. (although I only stayed till half time). I do go about 10x per day (including overnight trips) but it doesn't really bother me cause I'm in and out in about the same time it takes to pee. Sometimes I go 4+ hours without needing to go, other times I go once an hour. Apparently the body is still adjusting to the J-Pouch and it will take time for it to stretch to where the capacity is more (so less BR trips).

I did not wait two weeks to drive, but I also did not take any narcotic pain meds once I left the hospital. My surgeon said that as long as I wasn't on pain meds, I could drive.

I am starting a new reply, lost the first one. Lady golfer thank you very much for your reply. I came home 1/31 & starting about 11:00 I was up at least 10 x's. The next day it was about the same # of times but at least it was during the day and I could get some rest. The third night I had cramps that continued to get worse, then I threw up 3 or 4 times, so decided to call the doc on call. Was told wait until morning to see if it's any better & it was, but two days of a liquid diet. Now I'm eating solids. When I go to the BR it can
be several hours & I really do not have to leave the BR. I do not go off & on during the day. I go several times while I sitting there. Does this routine happen to anyone else?
I think I can drive now, also. I'm not taking any narcotics.
Everyday I introduce something new to my diet. I've have not had any fresh fruit or fresh veggies. I do eat bananas. Is anyone eating canned fruit & veggies? name is really Jan, female 66 yrs.
