My butt wound is getting worse!

Originally my sewn up back side was the only thing that didn't hurt at all in the hospital. Now that I've been home a few days the thing is acting up like crazy. This is going to get a little graphic so turn back now if your queezy!
I notice last night it was starting to hurt quite a bit, a lot of pressure. I've been doing the hot shower technique someone posed on here they said helped. It def does. But it's been oozing a little blood very liquid like, no foul odor. Today however it's almost like a water blister has formed and then that is leaking now quite a bit, but I relieved some of the pain back there. I tried to take a look with a mirror and it's not red and hot so I don't think it's infected.
Did anyone else here experience anything like this or should I go get this checked out before it becomes a whole issue in and of itself? Thank you in advance for your help

I'd call your doctor just in case. It might be normal since my doctor said those wounds are tricky to heal properly. Good luck!

Mine drained on and off for about 2 weeks. I just kept dabbing it with tissue from time to time. A little blood and some other discharge is normal. Unless it is a lot of drainage, I think it's normal and nothing to worry about. But calling the pros is always good for calming the worried mind. Good luck... And yes, it is VERY sore for a while!

Thanks guys, I was able to contact the WOC nurse and she got the on call general surgeon to call me, guess as long as I don't have a fever or chills and I'M not in any more pain than the usual that it's kind of normal....the only weird thing for me I guess is there has been no discharge for the past 7 days since I got the surgery. quite a bit of discharge Today now butit's slowing down I think. If anything it's making a little more pain in general but my butt wound feels a little less pressure. On day 8 and can hardly wait for it to be day 80 so these pains will disappear! It'll be smooth sailing for me one day!

I was overly paranoid about every little thing after my surgery. It's normal and if it makes you feel at ease, than it's all good.

Just keep telling yourself it'll be over before you know it. It's how I handle potentially long waits. :)

The butt wound hurts badly and it takes a good 2 weeks before you can sit and only feel soreness. Use the warm shower spray on it and let it air dry if possible. There will be some sticky discharge and that is to be expected. Everyday, tell yourself that you are one day closer to being healed and feeling well again. Hang in there.

Consider buying a waffle cushion; protects the anus wound when sitting or driving. I also packed my wound with a small amount of gauze (2inch by 2inch) for six weeks, changing the gauze about every 8 hours; that really helped. Your WOCN should be able to show you how to do this or your surgeon.

I busted a few of my stitches about 2-3 days after being released after surgery so I do feel you pain.
The above two strategies avoided any additional surgery in the wound area. Within 8 weeks everything was totally healed.

Did your surgeon have you put antibiotic ointment on the anal wound? Mine did and it still took several weeks for it to heal completely. However, it does eventually heal unless there is an underlying problem. Contact your doctor to be on the safe side.

They didn't give me any specific instructions for my butt wound when I was discharged. That's what made me nervous when it started leaking! On day 4 when I was home it started pouring liquid out. I bought 1 box of 9x5 surgical pads, taped 3 together and line my underwear with it! Little did I know that my wife woukd have to go to the store for me and buy out their whole stock in these pads from 2 stores. I have to change this pad like 8 times in a 24 hour period and take about 5 showers a day to keep the area clean. The fluid that comes out I would say in comparable to what comes out of a jp drain. It has a slight odor to it but the on call surgeon I talked to said as long as I don't have a fever or chills it isn't infected. I go see them on Wednesday next week so I guess I'll get more answers then. I also don't believe there is anything to pack with gauze as there is nothing there, just sewn shut completely. I was quite sick going into this surgery so maybe I just had a lot of fluid to drain and this is where it found a way out. All my other wounds like my 5inch incision below the waist is healing great, just butt wound has been draining for days and it's making me insane! It definitely slowed down since it started draining but still quite a bit of fluid. I'll keep this thread posted as to what they say on Wednesday about it in case someone else has this issue.
I do have a waffle cushion that I purchased from the EHOB website but even that hurts to sit on! I just try to relax in my recliner and sleep when I'm able, I'm still crashing from prednisone so sleeping is a bit difficult, I feel like the finish line is getting closer, just need more time!
