Kink

Yes, I had a kink after my colectomy/j-pouch surgery. I couldn't eat solids until my takedown five weeks later. When my surgeon did the takedown he detached the adhesion from my pelvis and straightened it out. He said it was like a bent knuckle. He also thought the intestine had kinked around the drainage tube. Apparently they move around a lot after surgery. Two months after my takedown (today!), I'm fine--no further issues with it.

What did they do for yours? Did you have to have surgery?

Thanks katmom. Feeling much, much better after that surprise hospital visit last week. It seems so surreal that it even happened. Treatment: morphine for the pain, ct scan , location of kinks.
I was fortunate that surgery was not needed but was unkinked with a tube inside the stoma to unravel the kink, a catheter inserted to make sure it didn't rekink, plus daily suppositories in the stoma to make sure that the stoma was working properly. Diet was a liquid one then soft food. Seeing surgeon Tuesday
