Proctectomy last week ... ouch

I had a proctectomy one week ago today (happy new year!) and was discharged from hospital after 4 nights with little pain.

Unfortunately the last couple of nights the pain has really set in ... is this normal to have a delayed pain reaction like your nerves are waking up!? Ouch!! Admittedly I was a bit naive to think I could escape with no pain :/

Please post your recovery experiences if you've had the op and any tips you have, how long you were in pain for, seating positions, how often cleaned wound, etc.

Thanks. I had the colectomy in 2014 which had various complications but didn't have long lasting pain. The proctectomy, because of where it is I guess, takes much longer to heal and comes with some pain. Cheers for the advice I will stay patient.
