Hi puckhead. I had a temporary ileostomy for about 2-1/2 months back in 2010, the result of a volvulous. Fortunately, I was able to get reconnected and things today (at least dealing with my intestines) are fine. Like you, I initially had a lot of urge to go. In fact, while I was still in the hospital, the day that my bowels woke up, they WOKE UP. I think I had 20 bowel movements in the first ten hours. My surgeon initially didn't want to give me anything to control the movements, as she felt it was important for them to get rid of whatever was in there that was causing the urgency. It wasn't until the nurses told her at about 6 in the evening (after the movements started around 6 in the morning) that she finally took some pity on me and had the nurses give me something.
So I think the urgency is kind of normal, but it does go away in time. I know that's little solace to your butt, but hang in there. Hopefully someone else has had a similar situation and can advise you on something you can do for your skin.
