Anyone ever had trouble from airport security for carrying the ostomy scissors in the hand held luggage?

Nope, never a problem - they don't even ask. I use the short, curved scissors from Coloplast - the blade is less than an inch. And I also keep them in my carry on so they are very easily accessible (if they ask about
them).
I've been to airports in Canada, USA, Europe, Africa =)

I flew twice during the holidays and didn't have any issues. Mine are the dull curved scissors from Coloplast not sharp ones. Not sure if that would make a difference. But they didn't stop me or question it on either trip.

Per TSA guidelines, any scissors less than 4 inches in length (measured from blade tip to fulcrum) are allowed. I too have the Coloplast ones and never have had anyone even mention them.

I would also recommend getting the TSA precheck. I fly on average once a month, and with the precheck you usually just go through a metal detector instead of the full body scan.
The full body scan for me is a tad frustrating, as I use a convex appliance with a hard plastic base, usually it will kick me out and I have to get the pat down and explosive check. It's not that big of a deal, generally only takes an additional minute or two and I tell the agent I have an ostomy, but I'm just not a fan of it when traveling with business associates.
Hope the planned travel is for something fun!
