Hi all,
I read alot on here both the crohns board and now ostomy. The insight I have gained is wonderful...
Please is anyone has insight etc I would greatly appreciate it.

I am on week post ostomy surgery...with past surgeries I recall feeling similar but not to this extent...I feel fine lying down however when I stand by back feels quite tight, then after a few minutes I feel so wiped my breathing gets rapid with one episode yesterday of it feeling like I had pressure on my chest that dissipated when I sat or lied down. Then my husband and I went for a drive to the local grocery store, all this started again and became extreme when I went to get out of the car (I stayed in the car for fear or passing out and it felt like my throat was closing and I was sweating all over).
Anxiety about having an ostomy??
Or should I see my gp?

So sorry to hear you're going through this. I'm curious to see what others think. Have you called your doc or asked your ostomy nurse?

How is your hydration? I was still very weak that soon after both of my surgeries, step one and two.

Hi there,
I can only speak from my experience, but I felt similarly for 1-2 weeks after getting my ileostomy. Any time I would try walking from the couch to the bathroom or kitchen, my heart would race like crazy and I'd get very dizzy. One contributing factor for me was that I was temporarily anemic due to blood loss. Have you had your blood levels, electrolyte levels, and blood pressure checked?

I gave up Tuesday, had enough of not being able to breathe and elevated heart rate, off to my gp.
She was very concerned, did labs and demanded I get a chest CT. LONG story short, don't mess around if you are in question, off to see a cardiologist soon.

Hello Jules. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks post surgery for a few reasons. One being my heart rate at a constant rate of 100 when at rest, and up to 140 when walking, or eating. I felt dizzy when I stood on my own. I saw a go, cardiologist. Both of who thought it was side effects of the prednisone, and post surgery side effects due to me being extremely I'll and weak prior to surgery. It did go away on its own after a week.
