off topic- happy thanksgiving! Plans? Tips for eating?

Happy turkey day for those of you celebrating in the US. In my
Family we go around to each person before dinner and ask what they are grateful for. I can honestly say I’m thankful for all of you and the wonderful advice and guidance you’ve given me these past few months. It’s a tough journey but nice to know that I didn’t have to go it alone. So thank you.

What is everyone doing to celebrate (if you are). Any good family traditions, foods, etc that has been passed down? More related to those with ostomies or pouches- any suggestions for us newbies at this holiday, in terms of food?

I'll be staying home alone this year so that I don't risk getting sick before my reversal surgery next Wednesday. I'll have turkey flavored pasta instead of turkey (which I wouldn't eat anyway with my ostomy. Don't want to risk a blockage).

I'm truly blessed this year that my cancer treatments didn't knock me down and I've been pretty healthy through it all. I'm cancer free and looking forward to my reversal. It's been quite a year and I'm so lucky that all has gone well.

My advice for eating food this Thanksgiving would be to chew your food well, especially turkey or other stringy foods. But mostly, it's just listening to your body and most of us know our bodies well enough to know what our body likes to digest and what it doesn't. Eat what you know you can handle and if you're going to experiment with new foods, just go slow.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone. May you all be surrounded by those that warm your heart and soul.
