Hi - I am going in on Wednesday for my reversal so really want it to go ok.
PLEASE can anyone give me some reassurance - the surgeon said the output of the bag should not be more than 1 litre (about 2 pints) a day and some of the days I manage that. BUT if I drink any liquid it just seems to end up straight in the bag as if my stomach does nothing at all. Now I know the colon absorbed the water and salts and that's not there any more but I am worried that it is so liquid. I can't see that I will be able to hold it and will be back to where I was with the ulcerative colitis.
I take 8 imodium (loperamide) a day but it just turns it from water into slightly thick gravy consistency (sorry!). I also now have thrush and wondered if that is due to the imodium or is it something else? I don't take any medication since I had the first op in February.
Also at the moment I have a lot of mucous coming from my anus - I usually manage to hold it ok but sometimes a bit slips out. Not a problem with mucous but it would be after I am put back together.
Can anyone reassure me that they had anything similar and managed ok after reversal???
Thanks in advance, gillian
