I need diet help badly

Hi. I am new here and this is my first post. December 11th I had a subtotal colectomy. Eight and a half feet of large colon were removed. I had megacolon and colon inertia very badly. My colon did not move without tons of bisacodyl and it was three times its normal size. After the surgery I came home and began vomiting badly and having terrible, terrible spasms of the small bowel. I ended up back in hospital with an obstruction of the small bowel. The surgeon said my small bowel is twisted and inflamed. He said there is dysmotility in it as well but as soon as food sends me into spasm, I get diarrhea. Now I am having bm's three times an hour all day. They sent me home on a full fluids diet, but I get so hungry. I am eating soft foods and having full fluids, but now I find that everything I eat gives me bad tummy and chest pains and usually diarrhea. I do not know what foods to stay away from or what foods to have. No one gave me a diet to follow other than to say full fluids for a few weeks and then soft foods as tolerated. I am not tolerating anything right now but I am now feeling hungry so it is harder because before I had no appetite or desire to eat. Now I am starving and can't eat without pain, cramps, spasms, and diarrhea. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what diet one should follow post colectomy?? The remainder of my bowel as joined together so I have no bag. The surgeon said there is no cure for my twisted and inflamed bowel and this could be it for life for me. I really need to know how to adjust my diet, ie. what foods to avoid and what I could try. I would appreciate any guidance as I do not see the surgeon until February and am at a loss. I know diet is key for post colectomy but do not know what diet is appropriate for reducing the pain, cramps, spasms, and diarrhea. Like I assume no milk products??? What about fruits and veggies?? I only eat chicken for meat. Anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions that might ease the gruellling day that involves eating, hurting, and running to the bathroom. It seems like that is my whole day, and goodness knows how I will return to work when I need to be glued to the bathroom.

Well I sure wish you the best with your surgery. What upset my stomach is that the small intestine I am left with is twisted, inflamed, and in spasm plus has dysmotility. They didn't know what I would be left with once the large colon came out, and a CT scan revealed that the remaining intestine is not good. Anyway, all solid foods upset my tummy and I had to go to full fluids. The only thing I know for sure is that soft foods and fluids are best in the beginning. I am here for you. I am 42, two grown kids, and a hubby as well as a cat and dog. I think we will have a lot in common. Let me know how it goes for you. I am keenly interested in how you are. Hi, am new to the site, am 59 years old, went to Vegas in Oct., intestins ruptured on the plane, and wound up in a Vegas hospital for one month, sepsis, kindneys failing, and a clostomy bag. Now I have been back home in Texas for 5 weeks and am still trying to learn about what happened to me. Apparently I had chronic constipation along with diverticulitis. I would just accept the pain and in a week or so I would get better, but not this last time. I went on the web last night and figured out that i have a peristomal hernia, the surgeon in Texas confirmed this today. He does not seen to worried about it and says that when he reverses the surgery in 4 months he will repair the hernia. I worry because when
I stand or sit it feels like a small basketball protruding out of my stomach and I thought my intestins were just swollen. The surgeon has a sense of humor, cause when I asked him if the hernia would get larger, his reply was "why would you want it larger, it is so large now that you can get a basketball in there", that still didn't answer my question, and am wondering if just wearing a belt will help contain the hernia, if anyone knows please advise. The area around the stoma is very iritated and red, i didn't use the bag today beacuse I haven't eaten in a few days thinking that my intestins were only swollen and I wanted to give them a rest from food. So I can predict when I am going to have a BM. Was hoping that the iritation would get better, but it got worse cause I had a small towel over it and them a larger towel and then a tummy support belt.
Anyway I am going to see an ostomy nurse in a couple of days. I an so confused with all this, diet, work, housekeeping, bending, kneeling, lifting, etc. don't know what is acceptable even know 12 weeks p.o.I guess because my gast. dr. says whatever the surgeon says, and the surgeon is so busy
I can hardly get in to see him.. then 12 days ago i got a boil in a very private area, then within 4 days i had 4 others start appearing on bra line, leg and shoulder, I had never in my life had on before, called surgeon and he sent me antibiotics, said my immune system was low due to all the infections, they seemed to work, but today when he saw them, they are getting small, the big one busted and drained but not completely, so he says if they don't go away completely he will have to admit me to cut and drain them completely......worried about that too.....of course he husband blames me for everything, because I was cleaning, moping, lifting and working in the office for 10 to 12 hours a day....but dr. says it happened bacuse the opening around the stoma was too big after the swelling started going away....does anyone have an opinion on this..well i poured my heart out and before i start crying i guess i'll turn it over to you all.. God Bless...any advise is appreciated
