Hi everyone,

I have had my ostoy since mid February now and since the end of March I have been very nauseous more so in the morning than any other time.  Some days I dont have any problems other days I find my self hovering over the toilet bowl getting rid of all that saliva that you produce while getting ready to vomit.

I have had the salivation issues many times however I have only had 2 days where I actually vomited one of them being today.  I explained the symptoms to my visiting nurse and she said it sounds like dumping syndrome.

In addition to the nausea and salivation I break out in sweats, I also get dizzy and lightheaded.

Has anyone else had this post op?  I plan to bring it to my doctors attention when I go Tuesday.  I informed him of this before but last time I vomited the rest of the symptoms went away for 2 weeks and now they are back.

Hi,  Maybe your blood sugars are getting too low.  Signs of low blood sugar can be that sweaty feeling, dizzy, nausa.  Next time it happens try to drink some orange juice, see if that makes you feel better.  I was diagnosed with type II diabetes four years ago, however, before that I had some of the very things you are describing, and I could get no help from the doctors.  They just shrugged their shoulders.  I am convinced I was hypoglycemic, and it turned into diabetes because I was not diagnosed in time to take care of it.  I look back, and I know that the episodes I had now were my blood sugars going too low, and me not having a clue.  I am not saying that is for sure what  you have, but it is something you should discuss with your doctors.  Take Care Donna

I was drinking gatorade. This has happened to me even when I had already eaten too. Staying away from bananas for a bit after vomititng that up. Yesterday I had gatorade and water in me. I didnt want to eat yet since my nurse was coming. My flange overlaps my woud vac dressing so the whole area comes off in 1 piece. If I eat it makes it hard to change the dressing since the stoma gets very active.
