There are all kinds and brands of skin barriers that you can use on your skin under your flange to keep the adhesive from ripping your skin off every time you have to change it. It can protect your skin if it's sensitive to adhesives also.
There are sprays and wipes, I prefer the wipes and I prefer the brands that have no alcohol in them and are "no-sting." If you have an accident, the stool can burn your skin, or you may have a little leakage around the stoma it makes the skin a little raw. The "no-sting" won't burn if that happens.

Hello Purple. Its not a silly question,if we dont ask we wont find out
The no sting barrier spray that I use is called Cavilon. I find that as well as protecting the skin it makes the adhesive on the flange stick better too.

Dawn,
I use 3-M cavilon no stick barrier wipes and I love them. It doesn't hurt at all and sometimes my skin gets really raw under the wafer.
