Ileostomy on the 19th!!

Well my surgery day is coming close, Tuesday, June 19th.  Proctocolectomy with ileostomy and I am so excited.  Sounds weird to say that I'm excited about a big surgery but for everyone that has suffered with UC or anything else you know excately how I feel.  The thought of not being a prisoner to the toilet is like winning the lottery to me.  I have read all the stories of everyones surgeries and recoveries and they have helped tremendously in calming my fears.  I know its not going to be a walk in the park but I still anticipate nothing but good things from this surgery.

I had my ileostomy (still have my colon, hopefully it heals and they can undo the ileostomy later) on April 20th and i have been feeling about a zillion times better. I am sure everything will work out well for you.

hi blue85 congrats on your upcoming surgery.I had surgery on May 1 of this year and i just want you to know that i was very scared going into it and even though i had an unforeseen blood disorder that ended in three surgeries and intensive care for one and and a half weeks i can honestly say that a pinched nerve in my shoulder was the worst as far as pain goes.Other then the complications of the blood disorder they discovered i had and the pinched nerve in my shoulder i had it would have been a text book recovery.Today i feel great never really had any abdominal pain or much trouble getting around even the first time they had me up.I was off all pain meds days before getting released and even before that was only taking the delodid for the pinched nerve pain.I cant believe it .Up today before seven and at the driving range twice today it is now midnight and feel great.Yesterday was on a road trip left at 9 am and arrived home at almost 6pm and one trip to the bathroom at that time i have a great bladder.Good luck and life is great.
