Tail problem...

That's why I don't use the open ended pouches. I never found a clip I liked, they're always uncomfortable and pinch somewhere.

I'm going to try the Coloplast bags again after this surgery. Was unable to use them because I needed deep convexity. I like how low profile they are. Do you use the ones that just press together or a one piece?

I am having a problem where the tail of my ostomy sometimes pokes out of my shorts when I am sitting down.  I am not wearing really short shorts, just nornal length I suppose, but shorts sometimes ride up a little when you sit.  I have been tucking the tail up under my undies but that it kind of uncomfortable.  I tried using the shorter bags, but they were just annoying.

I also have a problem where the tail gets dirty and it's really icky.  I use the hollister new image lock and roll.  And poo will get on the velcro.  Does anyone else have that problem?

I tried that appliance and HATED IT!!! There's no way to empty the pouch and not "soil" your hands. I thought it was a good concept, to not have to deal with a clip. But it was a concept that has no basis in reality!

I use a 2 piece because I just don't like having to use a clip. I tried the Coloplast "soft" clip before, but always had leakage, and the hard clips always dig in somewhere, lol.

i don't care what u say, those have to be some pretty 'short' shorts.

anyway, i don't have that problem since i m a dude and wear much longer shorts, but the other day, i leaned back in my chair and stretched at the poker table with my hands over my head and wow.....everyone saw my pouch when my shirt pulled up......good thing it was a friendly home game....i would have freaked out in a real tournament/casino..

i must say though, from a guy's perspective....if I saw that hanging out of a girl's / ladies' shorts, I would have to look twice......

with my history and experience though, i would have to look twice because i would be amazed to meet another person with an ostomy....especially a girl......darn i wish i could find one near where i live......

maybe you can use some medical tape to hold it in your panties, or try folding over the velcro a few times on itself to shorten the length of the whole pouch, then tape it....just a thought.....

not to distract from the topic....but on another note, any of you use an ostomy belt to help conceal everything? they just don't look like they would really help all that much.....

I swear they are not short shorts!  Or at least not hootchie-mama short.   They aren't the kind that come down to your knees, but the kind that most women probably wear.  Anyway, I have been tucking it up under my undies and  that seems to help.  My main problem with it is when I am at home, and wearing loose shorts, like gym shorts.  But I don't worry so much about it so much then, and I don't tuck it up then.  I have started cleaning the tail off with mouthwash, and that seems to help, it at least sanitizes it anyway!

Well it hangs out when I sit down, like it just peeks out. Anyway, I tried using a sports bottle, cause my bottle is little, but it is too big. SO i bought a deer part water bottle, the 16oz, they have squirty tops, and that works pretty well. I do have problems sometimes when the stuff is kind of thick. I had the worst time the other day, i had eaten syrup and I guess that made it sticky, cause it was awufl!

I sometimes forget when someone comes to visit (usually it is just me and my son, my husband works alot) and I will be sitting there on the couch and it is hanging out a little, and I am like, oh no, that's gross!
