Katy,
You must've been so proud of your hubby when you returned home from Bible study to find him dressed, shaved, fed, cleaned up, and ready to go!
What an answer to prayer!
Way to go on getting those free samples! I was thinking that since you're going to be using up some of those yucky clear plastic pouches, there are websites that sell decorative cotton pouch covers. If you sew, you could also check out the design and make one yourself.
I've also noticed that people don't even see that I have a bag. They tend to look at my face and not my stomach. I even went to a waterpark and ran around in a one-piece bathing suit without anyone looking at my belly! And, while my sister and her children had to run to the bathroom and stand in line to "go", I just kept on sliding down the slides! Having an ostomy does have its fringe benefits!
I wouldn't worry too much about
his ostomy getting clogged. I've had mine for a year and a half and eat everything under the sun (including corn, cabbage, and nuts), and it has never once gotten clogged. But, in the beginning, he can try his favorite "banned" foods in moderation and chew them up really well.
My granny also didn't swear, so when she got frustrated, she would say, "Shhh...ugar!" When you mentioned that your hubby is a farmer, I wondered which state you lived in. My hubby grew up in rural Illinois surrounded by corn fields, until his family moved to Naples, Florida in 1968. I was born in Naples, went to college in Denver, and then moved back to Naples after I graduated in 1992. We met in 1994, were married on August 2, 1997, and are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks!
