(another) intimacy question :) ...For the ladies

Lady ostomates,

I am very curious as to whether or not you experience pain/discomfort during intimate times since having surgery. I also realize the type of surgery you had may make a big difference in your answer (ex. total proctocolectomy people may be more likely to have pain since both colon and rectum are missing).

My doctor's never told me about the potential pain during intercourse after surgery (thank goodness for this board and the wonderful posters here...!!), and I am supposed to have everything--colon, rectum, anus--removed.

***So if you get a minute, could you please post what surgery you had and if you now have pain during intimate times? I would love to get a picture of how likely it is to happen... ***

Badbaggirl is correct. There is a lot to read under the forum on intimacy. To answer you question briefly, I am 5 months post and I still have internal pain. I can handle some positions but others are too painful. I usually bleed a little after my husband and I are intimate and I spot for a couple days. I need to make an appt to see my GYN about this. I have been so busy with the holidays that setting appts has been on the back burner lately.
