Up date on my husband

Hi All, Well we went to the University of Washington Medical Center today. This was a good visit we saw the surgeon first and she said we had to get the crohn's under control after that appointment we were sent over to GI doc. this is were we got a plan. He's going to start Dave on Remicade and Immuran for a couple months he told us we had a long road. If this doesn't work then he is going into surgery. But if it does work he will still have to have surgery to clean up the mess of what the disease did to his small bowel. Then after that appointment we had another appointment with their Infectious Disease doctor. So all the doctors has a plan together and we will see some results. He also is going to put him on disability until this is over. When they go in for surgery they don't want to give him short bowel syndrone so with remicade they are going to try to save some of the bowel that is farther up. Well this is going to be along year. I just want to thank you for listening. To everyone that just had surgery. I wish you well in your healing. Also I have another problem my mother has colon cancer and she is live's in Illinois and it's going to be hard for me because of Dave beening sick.

Thanks for the update. It is amazing how well you guys are dealing with everything. It is inspiring. It seems that Dave has some really good medical care and I am sure it's some relief just to have a plan in place. Hopefully your mom can get a plan of treatment in place too.

Is it possible for your mom to go to the University of Chicago? They are ranked very high for Gastro. My dad had bladder cancer 15 years ago and went there and kept his bladder and has been cancer free. I assume that she will need to have her colon removed? If she is able to go there, I live about an hour away and would be more than happy to meet with her and answer any questions that I can about the surgery itself or go see her while she is in the hospital. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Hi all thanks for all that encouragement. Well my mom live's down by Evansville, In. She will have to have a part of her colon removed and put back together. If she survives the surgery she will be okay. She is 81 years old on the 23rd of Feb. I just pray that she makes it through. All my sisters will be there to be with her I have 3 sister, she live's with one of them.
Okay, I do need to take care of myself. I have be dealing with Diabetes this last year. But I did have it under control but I've put back on some weight that I had lost so I guess I will have to start over.
Well I have to start the paper work for SSI and I'm not looking forward to dealing with the state. They think it's their money when actually we've all work for it not them.
Theresa that's sweet but she live's too far away. She's way down south in Illinois.
But I'm ready to get back to work myself and have a little life outside this house. But I still have to be available to take him into the doctor office and up to Seattle.
