Need help with leaky bag on 4 month old baby

Hi there all! I'm new and hoping someone will have some suggestions on different products for infants. My baby girl (4 months old)had a pull though ostomy 3 weeks ago, she will have the reversal in 3 more weeks. She was born with a complete duplication of her colon with a recto-vaginal fistula ie. the extra colon emptied though a hole inside her vagina. They were wanting to remove the extra colon, but could not because both shared the same blood supply. So they made the two into one by removing the wall between them and stappling them together. We are just waiting for the colon to heal b4 they hook her system back up.

Anyhow... we were given a hollister (sp?) bag with a 2 part system, and the dad-gum thing is a pain in the butt! I have never gotten one to stay on more than 2 days b4 it leaks everywhere. If the skin barrier doesnt leak, then the foamy piece that sticks to it does. I have tried patching it with her "stoma salve" as I call it....but it is stoma adhesive by convatec, and that will last a few hours....but it fails in due time.

I think with wet diapers, and fat wrinkles and also a large C section type incision I'm trying to fight a losing battle against leakage. I have tought about purchasing the Convatec 2 piece little ones system....

If anyone has any ideas or experience with this stuff I'd be greatfull for the help!

I am so happy that your little girl is OK! Cecilia, as usual, has hit the nail on the head. The companies are an excellent resource for this type of question. I think your technique is ok. You need to have the area clean and dry before attaching the device. It also helps to keep the area as flat as possible before applying. Easier said than done with a wrinkly newborn! i dont want to sound like a broken record, but i admire your strength and your daughters. However, when i was reading ur post my first thought as well was to call the different companies and explain your situation. They send samples and such so u can try out different things. Stay strong and please keep us posted on ur little Angel, I hope u both get relief soon.
