Clips or not? 10 inch or 12 inch? one piece or 2?

question as usual,

do u guys u clips or the invisaclose bottoms? My ostomy nurse ordered the clips for me, and now that i'm trying to wear regular clothes they are becoming uncomfortable, theyr poking me and i feel like i'll break them. Not to mention theres always a point sticking out in my pants or skirts unless theyr really loose.

Also, because the 10 inch bag didnt come in invisiclose or velcro (im talking convatec here). She got me a 10 inch bag w/the clip. Now that i'm going out more often i'm feeling as tho if i had a 12 inch with an invisiclose it would be easier to wear. I'm afraid i'll need to empty more often with a 10 inch.

Also, i use a 2 piece appliance, trying to find out how to keep the bulk down.

So i was wondering what were ur experiences...and did u guys have any tips on how to adjust? I'm worried that its too late to change to what i really want which is an invisiclose opaque bag (which i didnt know was white, i thought it was more of a "nude" color). As my nurse care worker from my insurance said that b/c ostomy supplies dont change that often in a short period of time, that the company shipping just usually sends an automatic order of what u got the last time every month. I really dont want what i have right now. And i'm getting ready to go back to work and want to feel as comfortable and secure as possible.

What do u guys think?

I've been using the Convatec clips since day 1 and I love them. I feel the most secure with them more than anything else. I never let the bag hang though, so it never pokes me or gets in the way. When I pull my pants up, I fold the tail end of the bag with the clip up, so the clip is actually laying against the waist of my jeans. My jeans hold the clip in place so it doesn't fall down. I only have issues when I'm wearing loose pants that don't have a tight elastic waistband.

I would call your supplier and let them know that you'd rather call to place your order every month rather than them just sending what was sent last. I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done that way. It's so important to try new things out so you can get what works best for you!

lol thanx stacie! yeah thats what i thought, i was told my insurance will only cover me for a months supply at a time and i have a 300 dollar deductible, after that they pay 80 percent, and then i have to pay 20 percent. So i didnt want to go ordering all willy nilly, and then get a huuuuuuge bill! lol especially considering how i havent yet received a bill from the first order! i have to get this thing ordering thing down.

i really want to go! i'm gonna do everything in my power, i hope he brings it up again lol

How about Hollister, do they make a velcro 10 inch? I use the clip too-sometimes my out put is watery and I only trust the clip after a few accidents.

I've used the 2 piece Convatecs for almost the entire 19 years that I've had an ostomy. It was what they first gave me in the hospital back in '89. I tried just about everything on the market for the first year or two. But I always went back to Convatec. I find that their clips are very secure; their pouches are the least bulcky; and in all this time, I've NEVER had a falty pouch.

Velcro all the way for me, never had them come undone and no way for anything to dig into you or get caught on anything and come undone unsuspectingly :)

I've also been a one piece Coloplast girl for 32 years. I could never see the sense in using two pieces (and I find I am constantly paranoid that they're not stuck together properly) when one piece does just fine for me - but everyone is different. You'll soon work out what works best for you.

Ditto Vette Guy!!! I've worn Convatec Surfit 2 pc for 23 1/2 years. That's what I was sent home from CC with - works for me!

I'm the same as Shaz - once piece coloplasts are excellent and velcro's magnifique! :)
