How do you clean the skin?

When changing, how do you clean around the stoma? I've read about some people using soaps, adhesive removers, etc.

My home health nurse always told me just to use damp paper towels ripped into strips to clean the area good, get all the residue off, etc. I've yet to have any skin problems.

What "method" do you use?

I agree with the paper towels - I use Viva cuz they feel really soft, but are strong, Select-a-Size... 3 strips: 1 to wash, 1 to rinse, 1 to dry. I do use Adhesive Remover because it helps remove paste or Eakin Seals easily. When I wash, I use Neutrogena soap since it is so mild. Wash/Rinse/Dry/Apply/GO!

First, I use an adhesive remover to get the wafer off. Then, I'll take a shower and clean my skin with any type of body wash on a soft mesh shower loofah. I've been doing that for several years and haven't had a problem yet.

I just take a shower and let the water run over my skin (using a fingernail to gently scratch off any goo that's there). If I'm in a hurry and don't have time for a shower, I just a tissue and some water.

I use Hollister remover wipes on dry skin first then rinse and wipe the area with a J cloth (the kind you'd use for dishes). It has a bit of texture so it cleans well without hurting. I use warm water and hand soap. Sometimes I get in the tub first.

I've used the adhesive removers, but normally just slowly peel off and jump in the shower and use Dove soap and dry with paper towels.

I spray on adhesive remover and then use baby wipes, and dry it off with these cloth-ish wipes from Coloplast. Works like a charm!
