i will just come out and say it am a hairy beast, ladies you know you love it ;) sorry back to the topic have any of you done anything else then just shaving with a razor around the stoma am asking because it gets old having to shave all the time and i think its one of the reasons my wafers dont stay on very long

I'm glad you brought it up, because I've always wondered what you guys do. I shave and have never needed to try any other method, like waxing or Nair cream. If I were you, I'd try the Nair cream before waxing. Have you seen the "40 Year Old Virgin" movie? If so, you'll know why men + wax = nono

lol yeah i dont think am going to be trying wax... i was looking if any one has tried hair removal with a laser or some kind of cream

I found that, in time, the adhesive tape on the wafer pulls all your hair out anyway.

you may be able to get your insurance to pay for laser hair removal for that spot

I don't need hair removal for my abs, but do you think I could "fudge' where my stoma is and get it removed elsewhere?!? hehehe

that would be cool but i just changed insurance about 4 months ago and i stil have no idea if they cover any part of my supplies, i order from edgepark and when i first changed my insurance they did a check and they said that nothing is covered well that sucked the next time i called i had to give them my insurance info AGAIN and they did another check called me back and told me nothing again but they do some deal where if you insurance doesn't cover any thing they give you 40% off so i was happy again that i got that for the next 2 orders but then my last order they did ANOTHER check on my insurance and this time they told me i only had a $45 copay on a 400+ order so i have no idea whats going on... some day i should just call my insurance but am just way to lazy

Just to let you know, laser hair removal isn't a one time thing. You have to go back a few times.

well whenever you get your insurance mess cleaned up, i would check about it, the only reason i said, this, and it's a little odd, the sister of a girl i work with (and i have NO idea why she thought i needed to know this) she had laser hair removal on her girlie area, and her insurance paid for it because she has genital warts or someting like that, and shaving the area, or waxing, can cause problems with the warts. LIke i said, i have no idea why the girl i work with thought i, and everyone else around, needed to know that, but anyway they paid for it because it's a medical condition, so that kind of made me think they might pay for yours, won't hurt to ask

i don't shave the area, my skin really reacts to a razor being used there.  so instead i use an electric beard trimmer, it trims really short, moreso than a regular hair trimmer, and seems to work just fine-haven't had a leak yet.  i do everywhere else too, it really shows my muscles better scool

I'd be real careful with having laser hair removal or even using Nair and stuff like that, especially if you have sensitive skin. Have you tried using an electric razor? I'm sure if you did every three to four days with your change, it would be fine.

I have ordered my supplies through Edgepark, but find that Sterling Medical is easier to deal with especially with insurance. I have Athem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Whatever they have setup to pay is what Sterling honors.

I can't believe your insurance will not cover medical supplies. If they cover your surgeries they should cover your supplies. You can't have one without the other. I'd push the issue with your insurance.

Also, there are some organizations out there that offer free ostomy medical supplies. You should be able to Google it. I know they've mentioned them on this forum. I can't remember the name though. Sorry.

one person, maybe on here, got her supplies covered by claiming them like they were for an ampuated body part.

yea i have thought about that it just gets old having to shave every 3 or so days and every time i do shave my skin gets really bad... i will have to check out Sterling Medical i just dont understand how i have been told 3 different things even after looking up my insurance a few times
