Wellbutrin XL and Ileostomy

Does anyone know if Wellbutrin XL will be absorbed if one has an ileostomy?

As long as it is not a timed release drug it should dissolve just fine.  However, everyone's transit time is different so this can be trial and error.

i don't know about it, but the meds i have that are scored (ones that you can cut) i cut in half so that they will absorb quicker. You cannot do that with coated tablets though and you cannot break open gel tabs or something like that.

I always talk to my pharmacist .... they can research or already know how each drug is absorbed. Just be sure to pick a time that they are not really, really busy so they can devote the time to you.

my pharmacist said no problem but the last 2 days i saw intact tablets in my pouch. No wonder I feel depressed!

Some drugs can be cut in 1/2 to allow more absorption .. check again with the pharmacist.  I don't know about this drug.  I have to do that with about anything that I take that has a coating, even a tylenol caplet.   And I just can forget about taking those very hard, dense, huge calcium horse pills.  But I seem to always find ways around it..

I have an ileostomy and take Wellbutrin and have had a lot of trouble with absorption.
