does anyone name their stoma?.....i am thinking about naming mine fisher....cause i love to fish....lol turn

I named my stoma Paloma, because she gets so happy when I eat Italian food! blush (probably because I couldn't eat it before when I was sick with Crohn's)

Mine is named Harriet because it's the best name my 10 year old mine could come up with :)

i dont' really understand the naming thing. Seems sort of like how men nametheir parts, lol.

My stoma's name is Seymour. I see more with the temporary ostomy. When I had UC my colon's name was Annie Moore because you never new if there was anymore left.

I named mine Leo taking it from iLEOstomy.  The reason for naming is because I have four children ranging from 13 down to 4.  It is a lot easier for them when we discussed my disease to say Leo instead of ileostomy or stoma.  Also making it more of a person helps with my children understand it as saving my life instead of just being some sort of disabling surgical solution.  By doing this they seem to really accept it for what it is instead of looking at me like I am some sort of poor disabled old man. 

Naming your ostomy seems to be a form of acceptance of having it.

I sometimes call mine "Stimey".

Mine is "Stanley" since it rhymes with stoma...

Cecelia--did you see that if we get to the "P's" for hurricanes it's...Paloma!!!

OH MAN!!! I sure hope we don't. Esp since Cece lives on the gulf coast of FL!
