Well, it is official. I have a bad placed stoma. My stoma nurse just left and she even said that if it was intended to be permenent that they would re-do it. I actually looked at it with a mirror today and it is awful. Literally, the discharge opening is even with my skin and the "mucous" opening appears to be gone. She said that she can see that a couple of the stitches fell out or whatever and that is why is fell in. Then, my skin is horrible. It has one specific area that has a hole-like that is filled with pus/stool???? Guys....it looks bad. So, she fit me in a super small cut of only 7/8's so the wafer would be tight to the stoma and ideally, it would be best if it would stick to my skin around the stoma....but it doesn't because the stoma is just too damp so I feel like all the stool now is just going to go under the wafer. He approach is opposite of the cleveland clinic stoma nurse who told me to cut it wider to allow for discharge. Any thoughts? This is the 2nd step of the pouch with a loop ileostomy.
