still have pain is it normal?

It is two weeks today since my colectomy and I still have surgical pain. Is this normal? I mean the pain meds help-- only taking 3 percocet per 24 hrs. Also, because of the pred use my stoma site and incisions are taking longer to heal ( that's what the stoma nurse told me)....

But how long before you don't feel considerable pain from surgery?

At 2 weeks out I still had severe pain. I think it was closer to a month before I didn't feel like death. Hang in there!--it will get better.

is ur incesion still open? Mine is still and my surgery was January 13.....It is almost closed but still have to pack it every day...just not as much packing.....I had pain until about the seventh week.....every week got better but it was until this time i was with out constant pain....When the pain supsided is when i realized i had a colostmy and teh impact of that was more emotional....Mine was an unexpected procedure in which today i am very angry about....I encourage you to read everyones post, this forum has helped me deal with ever aspect of my surgery better than any dr or nurse...good luck to you...kim

I had lap surgery. I have the bikini scar 6-7 inches- that is sealed with surgical glue. And then the little lap sites hurt and then inside it hurts.

I guess it is normal to still feel pain. It hurts where the stoma is not healing quickly around the skin.

I feel better that others have pain well into their first month.

i had my ileo and procto on 2/24. The pain in my second week was almost unbearable--thank goodness for the folks on this board. I am just down to 3 percosets a day. When the percoset wears off, I still have pain in the abdomen--I start walking hunched over again. I get extremely weak. Some shooting pains and big muscles aches. My stoma does itch and ache. I am still very weak from the surgery and malnourishment.

I agree about facing the emotional effects of the surgery--it's HUGE. Rather overwhelming. Thank goodness for family and friends--I have a lot of support around me. The recovery is so much bigger and slower than I could have ever thought.

In the last few days, I've had a few times when I really started to feel like me again. Good stuff. We'll get there!

I walked alot....My husband got so agrevated at me for hunching over....I dont know if it was the tape over my incesion...i couldnt stand straight for weeks....My Daughter just asked me a ? tonite maybe someone can help me with this one......I had teh emergency colostomy....after my colon was knicked during cyst removal....Kayla who is 14 asked me tonite....When you have your reversal will you have the tube in ur nose.....I told her i thought i had read that i would on the forum.....She said will brown stuff come out of it the next time.?...Now I was out of it then....and I really dont understand the ng tube......Because of teh spillage of bile in my abdomen for 5 days, would that have been poop....her words nopt mine.....If you have a answer i would love to know....Sorry im really dumb at this stuff but learning so much.....kim
