Hi All,

Just thought i would update u on my first follow up visit with the colorectal surgeon after my ileostomy surgery on the 4th march. I was quietly hoping on having a reversal but he says its definately not an option for me since I still have active disease in the rectum and anus and would very likely go back to running to the toilet several times a day, so looks like I have to make the most of my new life. I am very happy to be pain free finally and its great to be able to actually go out without  having an accident. But also a part of me also feels a bit sad. I know u probably think im crazy! Although Im sure u have all been through these emotions too. I also just split from my boyfriend of 2 years so i guess Im probably a little more emotional than usual lol. take care all

Hi Andorable

Thanks for the update. Hope you are feeling much better today. Did you coloectal surgeon consider the option of giving you a J pouch. I think it may be possible by removing the rectum, and just keeping the sphincter muscles to help in connecting the pouch. I am sorry to hear about the emotional set back. I am sure you would come out of that very soon. It is not you, but your boyfriend's loss, as he has lost a good friend like you.

andorable--sorry to hear your news:( Do your Docs have any plans to get your disease under control? As a fellow sufferer in those areas, I would suggest either getting things under control or having them removed.

Like PSA mentioned, it's his loss! I know that is easier when it's not your heart that's broken, but in time you'll know you are better off.

Thanks guys I appreciate your kind words. Ohio, I am off to see my GI today and I am currently on 5 mgs of pred been weaning off since surgery, so I guess I will see what he says today. PSA Delhi, my surgeon did mention the J Pouch but he says that wouldnt work for me since one of my problems before I had the surgery was faecal incontinence so he said I would most likely continue to have those problems. Faecal Incontinence: Andorable you mean to say that your sphincter muscles, which control the motions are affected. I would still suggest you to please consult some other GI. Why don't you take opinion from Cleavland. I have heard it is one of the best in the world. My concern for you is that if you could get the J pouch, it would make the life much simpler.

Hey PSA Delhi, I live in Australia so Cleveland is not an option for me. The surgeon said my sphincter muscles werent strong enough and I have active disease in my rectum and anus. Im not sure but I think theres a difference in whether its CD or UC as to whether a J pouch is an option as well, and its definately CD that I have. Thank you for your concerns and I do agree I need to look at all options if there are anymore for me. I need to do some research about J Pouches as well cause I dont know much about them at all. Thanks so much for your help :-)

Hey Adorable, I remember having seen some research paper on CD and UC from Australia. They had found out the cause (the particular bacteria) that causes these diseases. Infact, it was in 1991, they suggested that Fenugreek Seeds are quite helpful in treating CD.

In another research carried out during 2005-2006, the particular parasite causing Crohns and IBD has been located and the cure for the same is not far. So don't worry. There is light at the end of tunnel.
