OMG..7 MORE DAYS TIL MY REVERSAL turn Im freaking excited! Well, I am right now...the nervousness hasnt kicked in quite yet lol Ill miss my little stoma smilewinkgrin Just wanted to let everyone know that days ALMOST here!! :-) Ill try to keep posting and ill post when I feel good enough to after my surgery..wish me luck haha

Gosh, how quickly time flies! Congrats on your reversal date.

Do you have any words of wisdom for those that have just had their surgeries, or are about to have their surgery? Since it is still so fresh in your mind.... We have a lot of new folks on this forum, even since you joined and they could use your input, if you have any for us.

How exciting! Generally the reversal surgery is quick with a much faster recovery time. Bratcat was up and about almost immediately. With a smile on her face! She had no problems walking the hallways (compared to step 1 surgery). The nurses who had seen her during both recoveries all commented on how much stronger she was after the 2nd surgery. In fact, she and I played the Wii (a perk for being on the pediatric floor). She kicked my butt even though she was 3 days out of surgery!

Stay positive. By the way, we took pictures of her and her stoma. Figure someday she may want to remember this time period and how the little guy (Seymour) helped give her her life back.

Wow Bella. It is such a pleasure to hear that you are going to have your bum down under, working normally. Wish you all the best for the surgery. So no more artificial plastic around. Woohoo.

congrats!! I had my reversal surgery, on 4/13, and it went spectacularly!! Good luck with yours. I don't know what kind of remote your hospital has for the tv, but the best investment made before my surgery, was a universal remote for the tv, so I didn't have to use the one on the bed. Which you could go up only in ICU, or up and down, but no off button on it, in my regular room.

Hey, sorry I didnt get back to everyone sooner..blahh been working my butt off at work and on hw trying to get ahead so i wont have to worry about it when i come back =) smart eh? haha sooo..just to let everyone know, its 90 degrees here and IM BURNING UP! and ill be glad to get rid of my bag bc it has sweating problems lol it sweats more than me =p
Advice for the newbies..ehh..
*If your itching under your wafer, change it..even if its only been a few days. The itching SUCKS and my mom wouldnt let me change mine until the 3-4 days were up bc she was afraid that i would run outta supplies but i promise you will have PLENTY! bc i have a crap load of leftovers!
*If you get leaks under your wafer, dont worry. You WILL get better at cutting your wafer to fit your stoma =) I can cut mine now almost perfectly.
*Dont get discouraged! Stay positive about everything..so what if you leak all over your side and white shorts on the way home (haha did that once =p) ..at least youll get to take a shower and change your wafer and bag earlier than you expected haha
*Make sure you chew salad and brocolli up bc it comes out in a mush. And youll feel it coming out. It feels wierd..pressure and then it pops out...kinda fun to watch =p
*STAY POSITIVE
*I let my bag hang out of my pants/shorts..so what if ppl can see it. I bet 99% of the ppl who see it have no idea what it is. So if your comfy with showing your bag and talking about it..let it hang out! No reason to be embarrassed or ashamed of having it..hey! its making you feel AMAZING right =) I HATE the way it feels when its laying against my leg or in my panties if i tuck it in..so thats why i leave it out..and i dont wear longer shirts to cover it up. You can see mine..
haha I work at kmart. and i have ppl looking at it as they are walking by wondering what it is. and some ppl will ask me and ill just tell them i had my colon taken out and have an ostomy =) no reason to be embarrassed =)

thats all i can write for now .. enjoying the hot weather and having a cook out..time to eat STEAK =D

Good luck with the takedown. I know read your notes and its almost like I'm hearing myself talk. I leave my bag hang out quite a bit unless I'm around people that I know feel uncomfortable like my brother in law. I was at the mall yesterday and almost forgot to put it back in! HAHA I love your advice and positive attitude! Thanks for the words of wisdom!

bella, good luck!! It will go well. I just had mine reversed 4/13, and am off all pain meds.
