no prep for surgery?

this seems really wierd to me bc when i had my ileostomy surgery i had to be at the hospital a day early and drank miralax to prep..but when mum called a few days ago to see when we had to be there and all that info..they told her that i have to be there wednesday at 7am and the only thing i have to do to prep is not eat after midnight..did anyone else have this kind of prep or did you have to drink the miralax? I guess maybe, with an ostomy, its different? I was super excited about it bc i didnt have to prep with clear liquids like 2 days before haha thats a HUGE plus!

I am SO excited for you!!!  I had my reversal on March 9th and I'm so happy and I feel so good!!  I didn't have to prep for my reversal either.  Just like you, nothing to eat after midnight the night before!  There are certain percs with a pouch huh??..lol...I wish you the best of luck with everything..you must be so nervous and excited!!  I had such an easy time of it.  I went in on a Monday, had surgery that day, and home on Thursday.  I had no diarrhea or anything!!!!  I was kind of the opposite in that I was constipated, but Milk of Magnesia (first couple of days home) did the trick!  Now I just make sure I get enough fibre in my diet and of course I still occasionally have to rely on my old favourite..prune juice!!!...lol  ...Good luck!!!............Cheryl

I had to drink only clear liquids the day before my reversal, and take two antibiotic pills. Then nothing to drink after midnight. I had to be at the hospital at 10 am the day of surgery. My surgery was scheduled later in the day, because i'm MRSA positive.

yeah haha im super duper uper luper pooper excited lol before i got my bag, i had D like up to 8 times a day! and i hear that a lot of ppl get constipated when they get the reversal..so thats the biggest fear i have. all the ppl ive heard about or talked to said it was amazingly easy..will i be up and walking like, as soon as i wake up?

TOMORROWS THE BIG DAY scool though i have to say, having the bag has been amazing!

Should I worry about being constipated at work lol thatd be bad..my manager told me that Im not going to be living in the bathroom..

yeah no prep is normal, its dangerous for people with ileos to do the preps cause we dehydrate so easily.

Hurray for you Bella! I'd say you're about to lose some "baggage" he he he.
Do you have a j-pouch, or are you just getting the intestine hooked to your butt. ( I know those aren't technical terms.....)

Hey Bella! Well, you are probably in surgery right now. I hope everything goes well for you and your are up and running sprints quickly... Do be sure to keep us updated on your recovery too. Congrats to you...
