Of all the things I worry about...I didn't see this one coming

So last friday afternoon my kids and I were playing outside with the cat.  She's mainly an indoor cat and has her front paws declawed, so we let her play outside only when we are out there with her.  I noticed little bloody paw prints on the deck and came to find out, one of the pads on her front paw was bleeding pretty bad.  My cat is my 3rd kid.  So I freaked out, called the vet, who said if I could bring her in right away because they were closing in 1/2 hour they would look at it.  We live just blocks away from the vet so after finally cramming her into her pet carrier, which I know now she has totally outgrown, the kids and I rushed her to the vet.  The cat was seriously freaking out, like most cats would be I'm sure.  When we got to the vet I had a hard time holding her in the exam room.  She was going crazy trying to get away.  Finally the Vet comes in and says, "ohhh the kitty's paw is hurt and it seems to have diarrhea."  I look down and notice dripping down my front is poo.  The cat had clawed through my skirt and had tore my bag with her back paws while I was trying to hold on to her.  My bag was nearly full, I didn't empty it before we left, b/c we were in such a hurry.  Arrg.  So I sat there with a towel sopping up poo, while the vet fixed the cat. After we crammed our kitty back into the way too small carrier I was going to start wiping up the mess on the floor, when a little girl holding on to her dog's leash let go and it came running into our exam room, stepping in my poo, getting it all over it's leash and tracking it all over the place.  Needless to say I was sooo happy to finally get out of there.  I may need to find a new vet.

I had a cat several years ago that did that to me while I was alseep. Bad kitty! Maybe it made some noise or something and he thought he was protecting me. lol.

Did the vet figure out what was going on? This is amazing. What are the odds?

Well, I would have to say that you handled that situation pretty well! Look at it this way - you have just shared an experience with all of us and dispelled all of our "what IF's" -- I will be sure not to let my outdoor kitty climb on me without my belly area having an extra layer or two between me and his claws.

Yes my kitty turned out to be fine.  Somehow she cut that dangly pad that's up high on her leg.  The vet put liquid bandage on it and gave me some medicine.  I left in such a hurry I forgot to pay the bill.  I called later to pay and it cost $87.00!.  Way more than I thought it would, but I didn't want to press the issue after everything that went on there that day.

As far as sleeping, my cat will not stay off my bag.  When I'm in bed sleeping, I'll move him off,  but he will slowly try to sneak back on it.  I think it's because it's warm.

When I have leaks at night and have to change my bag, it's not me making noise in the bathrrom that wakes up my husband, it's the darn cat scratching at the door the entire time:)

I so thought of you just a little bit ago i was sitting on the porch and my stupid cat came up and starting trying to walk up my stomach! I was like, you got to go! lol.
