hysterectomy and ileostomy

hi i was wondering if any of you could help me ?

i have had a loop ileostomy done 10 months ago because of colonic inertia , chronic constipation that resulted in a rectal prolapse that i had repaired 3yrs ago .

my problem now is i had a total hysterectomy 4 days ago and for the last two days i have been having a lot of pressure on my rectum and its now leaking mucous sad it is quite large amounts and is starting to go a kind of mucky color . have any of you had problems like this after abdominal surgery ,  should i be seeing my doctor or will it settle down ? could it be caused by swelling from the surgery or my wrst nightmare would be to have another rectal prolapse happening !!!!

It is normal to have mucous and stuff from your bottom when you have a loop ileo...have you experienced that before? Or, is it just different?

Since you did just have surgery, I'd watch for changes in the smell (mucky color doesn't scare me, yet!) and check to make sure you are not running a fever. Are you in any pain? Don't mess around, if you think you should call the doc, do it!

I had a hysterectomy after my perm ileo - not the same situation as you and I remember having a LOT of abdominal discomfort with the healing process. I'm sure mine had to do with a lot of scar tissue, etc.

I also wanted to let you know to be patient -- others will chime in on this and hopefully help you out.

Let us know if you have questions that haven't been answered, and indeed, if you are in doubt, call your dr.

ithis is different to the normal mucous i usually get about once a week it is enough for me to have to resort to wearing a pad as my undies would be soaked .
i dont have any pain just a lot of pressure when the mucous is happening , kinda like when my prolapse was happening thats what made me think maybe it had recurred, i asked my gyne before i left the hospital and he said he didnt go any where near my bowels or stoma .
could it possibly be wind ? can it some how get in to your bowels when you have surgery even though i have a illeo
