cronic constipation

confused  Hi I'm a 47 yr old female, had cronic constipation all of my life but it's getting worse. My bowel was  perforated  in 2003 woke up from coma 1wk later missing 40 cm

(16 inches ) of bowel. Just saw a sugeron who recommended total colectomy and ileo rectal anastomosii.  

Would like to hear from people who have had this procedure done.

You have found a great place to help get some answers :-)    I won't be able to help with your questions...my diagnosis is Crohn's...but I wanted to direct you to the "total colectomy" treads.  I am pretty sure there is one that is focused on your situation.

you can learn a lot about this surgery and it's outcome if you read the total colectomy threads, just google "total colectomy part 3" and start reading.. there's a wealth of information there. also, if you have questions you want to ask, you can join us in the total colectomy part 22.

i haven't had surgery yet, but hoping to have it soon.

hi 2b colonfree,

 I had a quick look at total colectomy part 22 and freaked out. I was hoping for all sweetness and roses not more possible problems. I feel really bad for the people suffering and feel like a whinger now. cry

I hope all ops don't end up this bad and I pray that it all corrects itself for the lady (i'm hopeless at remembering to write down names) who is suffering so much.
