Surgery on Monday

It's all set, my birthday present will be surgery on Monday.  The dr will try to laser through the scar tissue in my ureter and put a large stent in for 6 weeks to keep the tube open.  He will FINALLY remove the nephroscopy bag from my kidney.  This tube has been in since May 7th so it will be a good day. He said that there's a 75% chance that this will work so I will need all the prayers I can get.

The person that schedules the surgeries called me back after she realized it was on my birthday and offered to change the day but I said it was ok; after all I've been through with the c diff and 5 kidney procedures since March I said I just want to get it over with and I REALLY want this tube out of my back.

Thank you for all of your support; it has truly helped me get through some rough times and thank you for letting me vent, there's no other place that I can do it.  I have to keep it all together so my family doesn't worry so much so it feels good to let it out.

I'll keep you updated when I get home, I'll be in the hospital overnight and staying in hotel for another night because it's 3 hours away and the dr wants us to stay close "just in case".

I, too, will be thinking of you during your surgery on Monday. Are you going to have a laptop with you at the hospital? Be sure to let us all know how you are doing. What a great BD present, huh?

Thanks for the prayers.  I don't ever  take my laptop to the hospital; I have this paranoid thing that it might get taken when I'm sleeping or something lol. Although everytime I'm hospitalized now I'm in isolation due to the c diff so I don't have to worry about strangers coming in and I always have the same nurses who are absolutely wonderful .

I'll be home on Wed. so I'll update you then; pray theat the dr sees the light (he needs to be able to see it to laser the scar tissue) just as long as I don't see the light LOL.

Thank you for all of the thoughts, birthday wishes and prayers.  I will be home on Wednesday and will post then with an update.

Ron - I had a lot of pain following my gall bladder surgery for quite awhile; I even had 3 gallbladder "attacks" following my surgery.  They dr said it was stones that had left the gallbladder.  I pray that your pain will subside and your health will return.

Thank you for all the Birthday wishes and especially the prayers!  My surgery went well; my surgeon feels that it was very successful and that after the stent is removed in 6 weeks the tube from the kidney will not close again.

It was a rough surgery, as you know from my signature I've had many surgeries and have an extremely high tolerance for pain but this one really threw me for a loop.  I am still in a lot of discomfort and am taking 2 spasm meds along with pain meds, hopefully things will settle down soon.

I'm praying that this will be my last surgery as having 5 kidney surgeries since March has left my body very squishy; it's really going to be time to hit the gym and rebuild the lost muscle tone .  Actually it will just feel good to be able to do anything finally!!!!!!!!
