I WAS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO AND DR.CONSTANTINE UMANSKIY AND HIS TEAM PERFORMED THE PROCEDURE. HE REALLY IMPRESSED ME WITH HIS BEDSIDE MANNER AND HIS PATIENCE.THE NURSES ON THE SURGICAL FLOOR WHERE I WAS RECOVERING COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER .I HAD A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT NEEDED SOME ATTENTION AND WERE HANDLED .THANK YOU DR.UMANSKIY...I am having mine in 3 steps .He believes it makes for a safer and stronger recovery.My case nurse from my union had a total collectomy in 2 steps and she got an infection that caused her jpouch to fail leaving her with a permanent bag.im glad she told me that because i wanted mine done in 2 steps too but i wouldnt try to change the surgeons mind.its still so new but im happy that i had it done. i think the 2nd step surgery is a bit more coplicated but lets cross that bridge when we get to it.

Surgeons are the experts in determining the amount of steps for surgery. Patient health and drug history as well as the patient's physiology are all taken in consideration. There are lots of patients who have had succesful 1 and 2 steps and complications and risk from this complex procedure should never be taken lightly. Even with the best surgeon at hand, problems can arise during surgery or post op. Glad to hear you are home and doing well.
