I wish we could send private messages on this forum!

As you can probably tell, I belong to a couple of Corvette forums that we can send private messages and "hook up" by giving our phone number in a PM.  I can't think of a better forum in which this is absolutely necessary! So....moderators....do what you can do? If I can speak to another Corvette guy or gal  who questions what kind of oil he/she should use on his C5 Corvette, I want to be able to reach out to a fellow ostomate who questions what his/her life with an ostomy will be like! 

Please....do what you can do! I've met many wonderful people on this forum and it would be my honor to know them outside of this forum!

Me too! I keep searching for this option, in case it's been added and I wasn't aware of it.

But not yet I guess.......

You can send emails if the person has their email public within their profile :)

Not sure whether a PM feature is forthcoming tho, it would depend greatly on whether the forum software has allowances for it or not and I'm thinking not otherwise it would probably already be in place since most forum software I've worked with has it as a built in feature :(

I guess I'll have to start a new e-mail address that doesn't have my full name in it. I've always tried to protect my identity on this fourm for professional reasons. It would be my honor to hook up with those here that live in the Atlanta vicinity.

The newest version of dotNetBB forum software definitely has PM features; it's mentioned in several places on their website. HW is using version 2.42 and I don't know if it was available in that version but I'm assuming so. It's pretty standard in forum software, buried in the Admin panel.

Private Messaging

  • Allow Private Messaging : This will enable or disable the use of private messaging on the forum. This is a global setting for the forum, individual users can be blocked by locking the private messaging using the 'Edit / Delete User Profile' tool.
  • Maximum saved messages per user : This defines the maximum number of messages that a user can keep in their personal message inbox and sent items folders. If not defined, the default is 0.

    Check into Facebook. You can email people that you are friends with privately within the Facebook community. It's pretty cool - and you don't have to have another email account. I didn't think I'd like FB, but I will have to say that I am a bit hooked!!! Fun times and get to see others from HW.com on there as well. Check it out.

    I'm not a fan of social forums like Facebook or My Space, and I'm only on Linkedin for professional reasons.  Oh well!

    I'm a Facebook addict but I don't want to mix my online life with my real-life family and friends, neighbours and coworkers.  PMing would be handy for sure.
