Hello all-
Just checking in....thanks for all your wishes about my stoma, unfortunately, I do not have any resolution.
Christy- Good to hear form you....so glad you are doing much better. That is so strange about the carbs.....I cannot eat much, but carbs is one of them. So strange how different we all end up. I cannot eat fruit, vegetables or any sort, anything high in fiber (less than 10g/day), nuts, seeds, tough meat, skins, whole grains, etc. I live off starches right now and chicken. So happy you are happy and I will pray you continue to heal and hopefully that stomach with rest and less inflammation you will be able to add some things over time.
Jen- So sorry you are feeling so crappy. I know how you feel and youhave me so worried. I agree with Jen though, I lost 8 lbs before surgery and was so weak going in that my hospital stay was much longer than needed. You will lose weight in the hospital for sure and like Christy my muscle atrophied and I looked sick as ever on discharge. It has taken me until now, four + months later to gain weight and energy and muscle. You need to be as string nutritionally as well as strength wise to go into surgery. I do not know if that may or may not be why we both had lleaks and complications, but it seems to be a factor. Praying for you sweetie.
Tracy- Thinking about you....let me know what goes on and what decisions are made. You are in my thoughts and prayers daily.....you will get through this, we all do somehow and with the support on here you know you have prayers and friends to carry you through whatever may come.
Marisa- How you feeling sweetie? Worried about you.
Jenise- Good luck with the defecography....I have had three and know how you feel. My last being at Cleveland Clinic was the easiest by far and you could tell they do them all of the time. Comfort is a huge part of the test and although their were negatives at least, like you said, they will have a reference to what they are looking for.....Let us know how it goes. Thinking of you.
Hodaya- Dying to hear from you sweetie.....how are you. Hope the infection is clearing up. Praying for you daily multiple times as you cross my mind. You are so string. Cannot wait to hear from you. How is the pooping going? Are you eating ok???
As for me, you all know I am having some serious stoma issues. I cannot get a bag to last more than 24 hrs....if it does not leak I have to take it off becuase I am in so much pain from the stool acid burning my skin. Today I had to change it three times....The last time my skin was open, bleeding, and weeping. Its definately retracting and I do not know what else to do....I am going to call the stoma nurses again tomorrow, but they have seen what it does and we have tried everything I can think of and every appliance they think will work. The pain is unbearable and my whole abdomen hurts when I finally get a bag back on. Oh well.....what can I do. A revision may be necessary before the reversal for sake of my skin.
Love you all...
Lizzie
