Jessica is one person who is not ashamed of her ostomy. Like me, she loves to educate people about ostomies. Unlike me, she has the body to show it off withsmile

Thanks so much for sharing! I loved reading Jessica's site, and seeing pics of a young person with an ostomy and not afraid to show it!!

I keep wishing Oprah or someone like her (do you guys know Oprah in Australia? Really popular daytime talkshow host here in the US) would do a segment and have a bunch of people on with ostomies and talking about why they got them, so people can see its way more common than you would think and nothing to be ashamed of.

i think Oprah is everywhere! Ibet penguins i antartica know who she is, lol.
I think the drs should do a segment on it.

Yep, Oprah's everwhere but I wouldn't hold my breath about her doing a segment on ostomies unfortunately. Over the years I've seen several message boards get on the bandwagon and start letter writing campaigns at different times to her requesting consideration, but they rarely even receive an 'answer' (usually a 'we'll think about it' type thing if they do). sad

Thank you so much for sharing that picture with us. She's gorgeous!

There's a show in the U.S. called The Doctors, where they have a panel of four doctors who talk about a variety of medical subjects. A few weeks ago, they were discussing colons and talked about Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's. I think they would be VERY open to discussing ostomies in a positive light on their show. are you talkign about the show we talked about where they had the huge colon and they walked through it?
I thought about them too, they have a segment called you produce the drs (or something like that) where they do a segment on whatever a viewer chooses.
Maybe we could all come up with a good something to write and one of us send it in?
