wish i had been given this along time ago!

Hi, Since having my retracted ileo I suffer frequent bout of sore broken down irritated skin to the extent that i can't hardly touch the skin round the hole let alone get a pouch on it, but thanks to a duty surgeon in A&E who went out of his way to get me something to help deal with this, who came back with 4 syringes of this Gel called INSTILLAGEL (the gel is normally used for men that need to be catherterised and has a numbiing agent in it ) he said this would stop the pain when having to clean the area when it is so sore and irritated and boy was he right!!!!!!
i used it the other night after trying to clean the area round the stoma the hole was like a volcano just wouldn,t stop errupting! so by the time it stopped the skin was soooo sore i put a squirt of the gel on the area and within seconds it was numb and i was then able to to clean, get a pouch on with no pain or discomfort it stayed numb for at least an hour afterwards this is the best thing by far and i so wish i had met this surgeon and been given this gel at the beginning of the year and not had to suffer all this time with skin issues. So i just thought i'd share this with you hope and can help some of you out there that suffer with irritated skin. Bev x
